P. O. Box - Irondequoit (14621) Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

spooko13: Stopped by the other day to see if there was a good place to hide this one that would still be winter accessible and also not too far from the original spot. I may have been able to make something work, but in the end I felt that this one had served its purpose. Time to let it go and let someone else use the area.

Thanks to everyone that stopped by and for the the nice logs and favorite points that were left behind! [:)]

Geocache Description:

The posted coordinates are for the Post Office. The cache is NOT in or next to the building. The cache will be within walking distance or only a short drive from the Post Office.

This cache series is being extended and was originally developed by Maryland cacher mdsurveyor. With his kind permission and help, I am continuing the concept to include more locations.

A simple puzzle once you learn how to apply the sets of three numbers and some simple math.

To find the cache location, use the (Grid:Row:Column) format. At this post office, a group of boxes surrounded by a blue border is considered a Grid.  (Each wall of P. O. Boxes, therefore, may contain multiple grids.)  The box number in the top, right hand corner is used to name the grid.  Once you have found the correct starting point, count from top to bottom for the Rows and from left to right for the Columns.

Each set of brackets {} represents a portion of the coordinates. The asterisk (*) stands for multiplication; the slash (/) stands for division.

N {43} {((G17551:R4:C5) - 5413) / 1000}

W {(G77381:R3:C5) / 10} {((G17211:R8:C1) - (G17151:R5:C6)) * 6}

The Post Office lobby is open 24/7, however the final location is not.  I tried my best to make this winter accessible without it being a parking lot hide (although there is parking close by). During the winter months you may have to make your way through a bit of snow, but the cache itself will not be covered by the white stuff.  Please be stealthy near the final, especially during the summer months. BYOP.

If this is your first "P. O. Box" cache, please visit the first in the series, P. O. Box – Bel Air (GC1BF0T), for more details.

Congratulations to the Mack4 for the FTF!
