Well we made it, Dec. 21, 2012 has come and gone and we are still here (bad news for all those believers who decided to max out those credit cards).
Well the Mayan apocalyptic prediction wasn’t our first, nor is it our last prediction of doom. With Dec. 21st 2012 behind us, we now get to look forward to the end happening on May 19, 2013, that is if Ronald Weinland has his date right (he has been wrong twice before).
Ronald Weinland the founder of The Church of God, Preparing for the Kingdom of God (COG-PKG) first stated Jesus Christ would return on September 29th, 2011. He prophesied nuclear explosions in U.S. port cities by July 2008 as the blowing of the Second Trumpet of Revelation. After his prophecy failed to come true he changed the date for the return of Jesus Christ to May 27, 2012, which he once again got wrong. When May 28th rolled around and it discovered that all was fine and well he must have decided that the saying “Third times a charm” was a good one to live by, so he predicted our demise would now occur on May 19, 2013.
Should we put much creditability on Ronald Weinland’s claim, I think not. I mean he has gotten it wrong twice now, but he must have either believed his own predictions or he is really bad at math (also not good for predicting a date of doom) as he was indicted by a federal grand jury on five charges of tax evasion, on November 10, 2011, just over a month after his first missed prediction. It was alleged that he had understated his income on federal tax returns, redirected COG-PKG church funds for personal use and concealed the existence of a Swiss bank account (Hey, wait a second, that sound like what someone doesn’t believe in his prediction, just wanted to use it to make some good old fashion $$$).
The date Ronald Weinland should have used for the end of the world as he knows it should have been on January 2, 2013, the date his prison term is set to begin, so I guess he will spending his last day (and ours?) on earth behind bars when May 19, 2013 arrives.
And one last resin to believe Ronald Weinland prediction is out of fear. In a 2009 sermon, Weinland warned that critics who mocked him or the COG-PKG would be divinely cursed with "a sickness that will eat them from the inside out”. So I have either doomed you by reading this (yes you were laughing) or I just saved you because I’m this sickness should inflict any day know and you will not have to suffer experiencing the end of the world.
Oh and about the cache. This is a regular cache placed near a trail near the entrance to the BLM North Hills area. (along the same trail as Marina's Book Cache). The trail is used year round so you can usually follow it in the snow as well.
Notice: The name of this cache will change to “The End of the World NOT!, 5/19/2013” on May 20, 2013, that is if I am able to make that change, but I have a feeling that I will be able to make the change.
