Geocache Description:

Lovely location on the North Coast of Scotland in a nice quiet little corner off the beaten track

Armadale is a small settlement on the North Coast of Scotland about 30 miles west of Thurso. It consists of a group of houses and crofts and a small fishing station. There is a small sheltered cove where small boats can be safety moored which is accessed down a steep path. On the cliff top there is a group of poles on which salmon nets are dried. Armadale is the start of a lovely walk over to Poulouriscaig, which is an abandoned 19th Century village. The cache is hidden roughly halfway along the settlement, by a large open area where there is parking and a picnic bench. There is no need to disturb the stone wall to find this cache, therefore please leave it intact. This is lovely place for a picnic with views across Armadale beach towards Strathy Point. Directions from Thurso: Take the A836 west from Thurso through Melvich and Strathy. The Armadale turning is about 4km from the Strathy Point road, on the right at the bus shelter. The picnic table as about 1km along the road, where the road splits.
