Geocache Description:

Congratulations to Webfoot for a well deserved and very appropriate FTF!!!

I was in Johnson’s Pasture heading for the final part of Webfoot’s Exploring the Technology cache, when I stumbled across the remains of another cache. The lid of the container was in pieces and the contents were wet, but everything appeared to be there including the log, swag and even a Travel Bug.

I carefully opened the wet log and found the name Bad Swag - The Travel Bug Starter. Since it was so close to another cache and wasn’t shown in my GPSr I knew it didn’t belong where it was, so I brought the remains home to investigate further.

It turned out to be another one of Webfoot’s caches. He placed it in 2004 and it was found 43 times over the next few years, but it went missing and was archived in 2008. I found the cache over four years later on December 30th, 2012 about a hundred feet from its original location.

Well, you can’t keep a good cache down. This is the return of Webfoot’s cache and most of the bad swag that was in it. (A few things just didn’t survive, and the Travel Bug has already been placed in another cache.) Thanks to Webfoot for allowing me to re-use his swag and part of his cache name, thus saving me from the process of being creative.
The location for the new cache is about a mile north of where the original was hidden. You can get to it from Johnson’s Pasture, Claremont Hills Wilderness Park or Marshall Canyon. No matter which way you go you will have a nice little hike in an area that we are very fortunate to have in our backyard.
I don’t want anyone who makes the effort to find one of my caches to go away with a DNF, so here’s all the info -

You’re looking for a medium sized PB jar painted flat black. It’s hidden at the base of a bush and covered with some twigs and stuff to conceal it better from muggles. Please pile this kind of stuff back on top of it after you find it to help keep it well hidden. You have to fight the branches of the bush a bit to get at the cache, but hopefully that will keep the muggles from finding it.

Go get it! This is a real Geocache with swag, which seems to be a vanishing breed.

Happy Caching!
