Geelkrans gives you a fantastic view over the Orange River and cultivated farms along the river, for about 10km on both sides, upstream and downstream.
This cache is located on top of Geelkrans, a well known site at Vioolsdrift. The cliff is about 100m high and a popular absailing site. There is also a zipline. The cache can be reached from the water side, if you are paddling on the river, but the best approach is from the road (Vioolsdrift - Eksteenfontein). PLEASE be very careful at the edge. There are no railings and the rocks are scabby. I've seen many people tripping over them. Also keep children well away from the edge. If it's possible, visit this cache early morning or late after noon, with a picnic basket. The view is fantastic. The cache is a plastic lunch box, with a rubber snake in it. You can park your vehicle at the bottom and take the easy walk of 100m to the top of Geelkrans. There is a foot path laid out with rocks.
