The Gambler's Fallacy is committed when you assume that an event, which has not happened in some time (over what would be expected) on average is, therefore, more likely in the short run as it is "due." Conversely the same Gambler's Fallacy is committed when something which has happened more often than expected on average is presumed to not be as likely to be repeated in the short term.
Garp's buying a house which has just been struck by a small airplane, calling it "pre-disastered" comes to mind.
Zombie: Man, that's five caches in a row we've DNF'd today. I think that's our personal record. Zowie!
Dragonfly: That's OK, were due to find the next one then!
This series of caches is dedicated to each of 20 different logical fallacies, one for each fallacy. The 20 fallacies in this series do not represent all the possible fallacies but should provide a good start for any student of logic.
In addition to the 20 Logical Fallacy Series caches, there is a series final: "20 Logical Fallacies: Series Final" (GC3W7C7). The cache description in the series final contains a list of the 20 caches in the series, their names and GC numbers for easy reference.
If possible, you want to read the description of the final before logging any of the 20 caches in the series as that description contains instructions on how to arrive at the final's coordinates!
Team ZombieDragonfly hopes you enjoy the tour of some of the less frequently visited parts of Annadel State Park (and the one cache which takes you outside the park) and, who knows, you just may learn a thing or two about logic!
This cache is on the South Burma Trail in Annadel Park. This trail is one of our favorites to hike in the park. Partly, perhaps, because it is just a wonderful, beautiful trail and partly because it is so far from any of the parking lots it tends to get less foot traffic (but not necessarily bike and equestrian traffic) than many of the other trails in the park.
You are looking for a small 2.5" x 3.5" snap-lock plastic container.
Note: As this cache was moved in January, 2013 from a trail which has been formally closed, and as this cache had been out of commission for a few months because of this, we have "re-seeded" this cache with a new "FTF" item, an unactivated dog tag TB from Groundspeak.
