Geocache Description:

This is my second hide. The cache is on the grounds of the church with the approval of the pastor. I want to continue to give people more history of our community.  The Welcome area of Coweta county is rich with history.  Enjoy the cache and our community.

This cache is located on the grounds of one of the oldest churches in Coweta county.  The present location is the sixth place the church building has been located. The church building has burned two times in its present location. The church was established in 1837. The first church building was a log cabin located near the home of Joe Newman(now the John Stuckey residence).  The church has seen many changes in theses 176 years.  The church cemetery contains the burial site of several builders of the community as well as Coweta county.  The Emory Chapel Methodist Church and Providence Baptist shared a cemetery for a time and the cemetery at the methodist church have both baptist and methodist brotheren at rest. ( cemetery comes from Greek meaning place of rest or sleep) ( free information LOL) The reason for this is they were very close to one another in the history of theses churches. On March 16, 1928 Providence Baptist Church purchased theses four acres for $106.00 where the church building has been since then. Providence Baptist Church has a rich history in Welcome community as well in Coweta county.  The cache is a medium container with a log, pen and some things to take or swap.   Please place back as found and have fun. The cache is in front of the church no need to cross the road or go up to the church.  If you are interested stroll thru the cemetery and see some of the names who were leaders over the years in this community.
