Akyaka has one of the best picnic grounds surrounded by pine forests, by the sea where you can watch glorious sunsets, make your own barbecue or have a snack in the cafe. Various modest tea-houses offer fresh tea, toasts and peaceful hours by the sea or in the town center. Fresh fish is best served here, all year round in all restaurants by the Azmak River.
Akyaka.

Akçapınar is a village attached to Ula County, best known for the eucalyptus trees that run along both sides of the once main road. Its name comes from a freshwater spring (pınar in Turkish) situated right beneath the road to Çalcalar. The village has recently been settled by many foreigners, who have blended well with the locals. Akçapınar was once a popular breeding area for storks; while some 400 pairs came to the village in the 1980s, only seven pairs came this year, despite efforts carried out over the past eight years to halt their decreasing numbers. Global warming has been causing the storks to come to Akçapınar earlier every year as well. The birds spend five months in the village, and locals have been working to ensure conditions are right for them to breed; for instance installing tall wooden poles so that the storks don’t nest on electricity poles. Work is ongoing to develop the infrastructure whereby power lines will run underground, and no longer pose a threat to the lovely birds.
