Geocache Description:

The MoCo Expo Geotrail is a way to help introduce people to geocaching in Morgan County, WV in a fun and family-friendly way. All of the caches in this small trail are kid-friendly!

I'd like to thank the Great Cacapon Volunteer Fire Company for giving me permission to place this cache in their wonderful grove.  Remember to support your local volunteer fire company.  These folks give a lot of their time and energy to protect us!

This cache is not a brand new one, but it is being given an updated name and mission. Great Cacapon (pronounced Great Cah-KAY-pun) is a small unincorporated village in western Morgan County. The Great Cacapon Volunteer Fire Company was organized in 1946 and is located on Spring Street in Great Cacapon, West Virginia. The company has proudly served this community for over 65 years. They provide fire prevention, fire suppression, and rescue services to the communities in and around Great Cacapon. They also provide mutual aid to all Morgan County fire departments as well as The Slanesville Volunteer Fire Department in Hampshire County WV, The Hancock Volunteer Fire Department in Washington County MD, and The Needmore Volunteer Fire Department in Fulton County PA.

The first tanker owned by the Great Cacapon Volunteer Fire Company was an old 1940's Autocar with a 3000 gallon tank which was originally a fuel truck. The motor in this tanker would not pull a full load of water up Sidling Hill Mountain and a person actually had to walk beside it letting water off when it slowed down and closing the valve when it picked up speed. The first new fire engine owned by the Great Cacapon Volunteer Fire Company was purchased in 1962.

The Firemen's Grove is the site of many a celebration in the Great Cacapon community.  The biggest event of the year here is an Independence Day parade that begins and ends in the area of the grove.  After the parade, community members can enjoy delicious hot meals provided by various community organizations, games, and great music played from the gazebo in the grove.

Now for the cache:

You're looking for a medium sized lock-and-lock, which contains a log book, hopefully a writing utensil (but always bring your own, just in case), and lots of little trinkets.  There has been some muggle activity around the cache area lately, so PLEASE make sure you leave the cache as well hidden (or better) as you found it.

Please note that you do not have to go inside any of the buildings.  Please be respectful of all equipment and buildings on the property, as the fire department was kind enough to give me permission to place this cache, and I want to keep a good relationship with them so it can stay there!

You'll need to watch for muggles depending on the season and time of day, as there is a Head Start building in the very near vicinity.  This cache is very kid and pet friendly, with plenty of room to play (which can provide cover for your search!)  Don't forget to clean up after kids and pets

Congratulations to lisaanddarin for FTF! (and thanks for the heads up on the wrong coords!)
