Not a walk IN the park, but rather a walk FROM the park.
A pleasant hike through the town of Del Rey Oaks - followed by a few seconds of heart-pounding terror.
WARNING: This cache involves crossing a VERY busy highway with high-speed traffic and then loitering nearby. While it is quite safe for an attentive and careful geocacher, it is thus not recommended for small children or pets.
Park your vehicle in the main Del Rey Park parking lot a few yards from the posted coordinates. Begin your walk in the park itself. While the park is a pleasant location for a stroll, this multi-cache will actually take you away from the park rather than through it. At the posted coordinates, you will find a hide-a-key containing TWO sets of coordinates. You must visit both waypoints to obtain the coordinates of the final cache. At each waypoint you will find three numerals INDIVIDUALLY nailed to a prominent feature. You will also see other numbers nailed to the feature, but the three metal numerals that are INDIVIDUALLY attached to the feature about six feet off the ground are the key to this cache. Considering the three numerals as a three-digit number, perform two simple subtractions to obtain the final coordinates:
N 36° 35.ABC W 121° 50.XYZ
where ABC = (Three-digit Number from WP1) - 200
and XYZ = (Three-digit Number from WP2) - 230
Though streetside parking may be available at the two waypoints, the final location must be approached on foot, and it is recommended that the entire multi-cache be done on foot with a total hiking distance of less than one mile roundtrip.
Be VERY careful crossing the highway to reach the final location (especially on the return trip during which visibility is poorer, but still sufficient for a safe crossing). Use the hint to speed the search and minimize your time on the roadside.
