Geocache Description:

Warmer days are coming and summer will be here before we know it. It'll soon be time to head to the beach! Don't we all remember the times when we were at a cottage or at a nice sandy beach, and set out to build a sandcastle? This puzzle requires you to discover a bit of trivia about the basic building blocks of sandcastles and about some pretty fancy designs too!

A) The two basic building ingredients of a sandcastle are _ _ _ _ and_ _ _ _ _ .  DR (resulting in one digit) the words which fill in the blanks and subtract 6.

B)  More advanced versions of building with sand go far beyond the simple sandcastles many of us crafted on our summer holidays at the beach.  One example is the height of sand structures.  How tall (as of 2011) is the record holding sandcastle, according to Guinness World Records? What is the DR of the numbers given in  feet and inches? (ie 5 ft 2 in DR=7). Add one to your answer.

C)  Sandcastle building has become more and more sophisticated over the years.  There is oft-used term which is, more modern and honestly, more accurate for this activity.  What is the DR of this term? Add two to this number.

D) How many grades of sand are defined by ISO 14688? Add your answer to the value of the DR answer to question A(before arithmetic).

E)  A very popular sandcastle building competition was held in Harrison Hot Springs, BC for a number of years.  Unfortunately, due to several factors, mostly financial, the competition is now defunct. What was the common one word title of the competition?  Add three to your answer.

F)   A gallery of sand structures from this event show the creativity of the artists from around the world.  (Reminiscent of Winterlude's Ice Carving Competition?)  Find the image of a sandcastle which was created at the Harrison Hot Springs competition and calculate the DR of the four words on the front side of the structure. (Hint: the 3rd word is "of") Subtract one from your answer.

Now that you have found out some interesting trivia about sandcastles, it's time to build one, or at least find the cache near one!
