Pi Day is a special day for those with an interest in mathematics. The date March 14 can be written as 3/14 in month/day format. This looks very similar to 3.14 - the mathematical constant Pi. It is important to note that neither 3.14 nor the fraction 22/7 are exactly equal to pi.
Pi is defined as: the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. This ratio can only be approximated by a decimal number or a fraction as true Pi is never ending.
Just as there are numerous mathematical constants, there are also numerous varieties of pie. There will be a sampling of such pies at the event; however the number of pies will not be infinite. It is possible to cut one pie into an infinite number of pieces but we do not have the necessary knife, or the expertise. On the other hand the pie we have will taste much better than the mathematical one.
The event will start at 7:00 pm. We look forward to seeing familiar faces as well as new geocachers
Oh! By the way this day is the 134th birthday of Alberta Einstein.
