A Hasty Generalization occurs when you draw a conclusion from a small set of data which is not representative of the whole or overall picture. Smaller sample sizes tend to lead to less accurate conclusions and so, are more likely to result in hasty generalizations. This is a problem any respectable pollster has to deal with. Just because 45% of the people polled feel a particular way about a question does not necessarily mean that can be extrapolated to the larger population.
Zombie: Wow, these last two caches, the first we've seen from Team OompLoompa, were awesome! We have to find ALL of their other caches!
Dragonfly: Yeah, but these two have 10 favorite points each and all of their others have none, so I'm not so sure we need to exactly run right out and plan a vacation around finding the rest, eh?
This series of caches is dedicated to each of 20 different logical fallacies, one for each fallacy. The 20 fallacies in this series do not represent all the possible fallacies but should provide a good start for any student of logic.
In addition to the 20 Logical Fallacy Series caches, there is a series final: "20 Logical Fallacies: Series Final" (GC3W7C7). The cache description in the series final contains a list of the 20 caches in the series, their names and GC numbers for easy reference.
If possible, you want to read the description of the final before logging any of the 20 caches in the series as that description contains instructions on how to arrive at the final's coordinates!
Team ZombieDragonfly hopes you enjoy the tour of some of the less frequently visited parts of Annadel State Park (and the one cache which takes you outside the park) and, who knows, you just may learn a thing or two about logic!
This cache is at a lovely spot along the Ridge Trail. On a clear day, from this spot you should be able to see Buick Meadow below and the bay and Mt. Diablo in the distance!
