Caching by 903 Bus #10 Picnic in the Park Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Ngaambul: As there's been either no response from the cache owner, no cache to find or log to sign, or it's been longer than 28 days since the last reviewer note. I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace/make available the cache sometime in the near future (next 28 days), just contact us (by email) once the cache is in place, and assuming it meets the current guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it. Should you replace the cache after 28 days has passed please create a new cache listing so it can be reviewed as a new cache.

Geocache Description:

Wattle Park is a well-known picnic area, and is well used by people from a wide area around. There is a good central play and picnic area with historic features, and plenty of trails through the bushland. Very good car and public transport access, including especially the 903 Bus. Tree cover a GPS challenge

Travelling the full 903 Smart Bus route in Melbourne will take a cacher in a large arc from Mordialloc through the south-eastern suburbs to Box Hill, Doncaster, Heidelberg, and then along Bell Street to Essendon and then to Sunshine and back to the bay at Altona.  The full trip from end to end by bus will take approx 4 hours. The “Caching by 903 Bus” series of caches is intended as a set which will highlight some of the key points along this route, and take in a few other interesting sights and places along the route as well.

This cache is part of the eastern half of the route, from Heidelberg to Mordialloc. These caches were all placed while using the bus. While the intent is to use the 903 bus if possible to find the series, most of the caches may be found individually by those who may not want to put in the time needed for the full trip.

There is an additional cache which can only be found by recording and using the clues found at each of the individual caches.  To find this one, you will first need to complete all the caches along this eastern half of the route and record the number value shown against the individual letter on each container (G=…, etc).

So, get on the bus, get off at the appropriate stop, pick up the cache, and get back on the next bus to come along.  The wait is usually only about 15 minutes between each bus.
