The First Mrs. Ryerss ( Anne Waln ) was very interested in Animal Welfare, & established a rest home for horses across the street on the part of the property that extended about 900' to Oxford Ave. The farmhouse there was a farm house occupied by workers to the NE. & another near the W. end of the ball fields. That now developed part of the "farms" occupied about 40 acres. The remaining park land is 68 acres.
