This cache has a great view of the upper Skagit valley where the Sauk river enters it. Across the valley is Sauk mountain and the Cascade giants peek out above the foothills. This is in a seldom visited area so it would be a surprise to see anyone else. I picked this spot because of the unique view of the area. The original cache dissapeared. I have replaced it with a larger container in an easier to get to location.
The cache is reached by taking highway 20 to Concrete Washington. Turn off of Highway 20 onto the Concrete Sauk Valley road (just before Concrete coming from the west). Drive 9.7 miles to Finney Creek road. This paved road branches off on the right. Drive up Finney Creek road for about 3 tenths of a mile to the first hairpin curve with a gravel road on the left. This is a gated logging road (marked 741). The road is owned by Sierra Pacific Industries (a forest products company). No motorized vehicles are allowed but hiking, mountain biking and horse travel are permitted. Do not take any forest products or minerals from the area or start any fires. Do not block the road at the gate. Park off to the side. I put a Traveling Hamster token in the cache for the first person that want's to aid in it's traveling.
Walk up the road about 6 tenths of a mile. You will see a branch road on the right. Just a short way up this road will be a sign on the right that says 741A. Follow this moss covered road about 4 tenths of a mile to the end. The cache is just beyond the end of the road. The elevation gain from the start to road 741A is about 200 feet. The last .4 mile gains another 250 feet.
