The nature reserve was once the heart of the industrial revolution in gateshead,today after various conservation projects it's now a mixture of grasslands,wetlands and woodlands,with an area of semi natural woodland.wildlife is now starting to thrive once again.the site also has over 108 stone and brick structures of archaeological interest.
