Red Hills Soaproot - Chlorogalum Grandiflorum

Red Hills soaproot is a BLM-sensitive species, classified as such because of its limited distribution. It is relatively abundant in this area. It blooms from May to June, but the flowers open at night and close by the next morning! The white flowers attract moths as pollinators. During the day the leaves of this plant are its most striking characteristic. They radiate like the spokes of a wheel and tend to be very wavy. This species is typically much smaller than the common soaproot. Soaproot is a member of the lily family. BYOP
