Geocache Description:

Tis cache was placed with the permission of Ivyland Park and Rec.  The store owner is aware of the cache.
The cache should be a cache and dash. No need to stray onto private property.

This cache is being placed in conjunction with the celebration of the 140th anniversary of the founding of Ivyland Borough in 1873. The celebration will be on June 22, 2013. The boro was founded in 1873 by Edwin Lacey. He envisioned a bucolic village and he named it Ivyland after all the pretty ivy in town, not knowing it was poison ivy! He built the store and the hotel next door to make money off tourists in the Philadelphia Exposition of 1876. The banking crash stopped construction so the hotel never opened. It is now apartments. The store has been open since 1874. It is said that in the 1800's shoppers came from as far a way as Philadelphia because of the fine goods available. It is now open on weekdays and makes great sandwiches. Stop by after you find the cache.
