A SPECIAL NOTE! This island is notorious for getting people lost. My advice is to mark the beginning, the walkway from the mainland to the island, those coordinates are: N 38° 39.893, W 090° 40.895. Enter them in your GPSer, you won’t be sorry. The walkway is a concrete structure that is prone to frequent flooding. DO NOT CROSS IF IT IS FLOODED.
A nice stroll through the woods on Deer Trails along the Missouri River. Easy bushwhacking. You are looking for a Lock-n-Lock container hidden in a typical location; chest high.
Howell Island Conservation Area is managed by the Missouri Department of Conservation. It is an Island on the Missouri River located in St. Charles County, but accessed through St. Louis County over the Centaur Chute Causeway. Because of the unique island characteristic, it is rich in wildlife viewing, bicycling, hiking, fishing and other outdoor recreation. Check the internet, even Big Foot has been sighted on Howell Island.
