Welcome to the Brisbane Fire Trail Series. This is the second in a series of Power Trails (really Power Hikes) to the top of San Bruno Mountain. This road is used by Brisbane Fire Department to head up San Bruno Mountain when it catches on fire.
As a resident of Brisbane for over 40 years, it was not uncommon to drive home, see the hillside on fire and head up the hill to join volunteer Fire Department fighters battle the flames. In years past we only used hand tools to dig fire lines but now they use bulldozers and helicopters that drop water on the fire. They refill their water supplies in the nearby Brisbane Lagoon.
This series is to salute all those brave folks that fight wild fires on the ground, with only hand tools at their disposal. The CDC Forestry Department routinely supports the Brisbane Fire Department to fight the larger fires and protect homes near the top of the hill.
This cache is a camo plastic container filled with lots of fun swag items, pencil, and a small Jeep 4x4 car!
There is a new Bison tube for the FTF, hopefully for a future Brisbane cache. Please return the cache to it's natural location and add some natural camo so it is not too obvious to numerous dog walkers.
FYI, Please be aware that you must always park inside the white lines to allow fire vehicles to travel down our very narrow roads. Thanks
Congrats to Deadley for FTF!
