Goodnight Moon - NCWK, Huset Park Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

MinnWise: It's been a good run. But muggle interference has made this night cache too difficult to maintain. I am archiving it and opening the area up for someone else.
Thanks for playing and thanks for the favorite points.

So it is "goodnight" to the old lady whispering "hush".
Goodnight stars.
Goodnight air.
Goodnight noises everywhere.

Geocache Description:

NCWK - Night Caching with Kiddos

The cache is not at listed coordinates.
This is a night cache, puzzle cache, and multi-cache. Winter friendly (wear boots). Bring flashlight

This night cache is designed especially for the kiddos, but anyone with a child's heart has permission to seek it.

You will need a flashlight. An LED or Maglite is best.
You will be walking approximately 600 feet away from your vehicle to the first location, then about 550 further to the second location.

This multi cache is located in a safe park. You may need a writing utensil and paper to assist you in solving the coordinates for the second cache. The puzzle is a simple 6 question quiz on the children's book “Goodnight Moon” by Margaret Wise Brown.

This cache is winter friendly. When temps get very cold, keep in mind that once you have found the first cache, it will take a couple of minutes to solve the puzzle which will lead you to the next cache. Good boots are highly recommended for winter.

IMPORTANT: Park hours are 6 am to 11 pm. You are required to respect park hours in order to log this cache. Please no cheating because that could risk this cache to have to be removed.

I thought it would be nice to start making some easy and child friendly night caches. Hopefully this endeavor will be successful and muggle free. We will simply have to see how well it goes. This cache is placed with permission by the Columbia Heights Department of Park and Recreation

INSTRUCTIONS:

Park at noted spot

At listed coordinates, flash your light around at EYE LEVEL until you see a reflective tack on a tree. To keep the game from arousing the curiosity of muggles, the tacks are higher up, about 6 ½ to 7 feet, but your flashlight held at eye level will shine the tacks brightly for you.

First Cache - The Quiz:

Once at the first tree, flash your light around for the second reflective tack. Continue looking for reflectors on trees until you find the tree with the two reflective tacks which is where the first cache is hidden. You are looking for a small camoed ziploc. It will be at an area where Little Ones can locate it easier then us big folk. No digging in the snow (in winter) will be necessary. Inside the cache will be a quiz which anyone slightly familiar with Margaret Wise Brown's book “Goodnight Moon” should be able to easily answer. Guesses will likely be accurate also, but if you find yourself stumped, check the encrypted clue for the answer key. Only check the clue if you must though, for it has a spoiler alert. The correct answers will help you fill out the coordinates for the next and final cache, so you may wish to bring a writing utensil and some paper to aid in figuring out the coordinates.

Second Cache - The Goods:

The final cache has a bit of reflective tape on it and is a medicine container large enough for SWAG, covered with camo tape. It is covered with 'unnatural landscaping' in the final location so it should be set up that something must be moved in order to locate it. Please rehide as found. This is important to prevent muggling! Placing it in another manner will end up in it's disappearance. Container used to be larger, but to make this more muggle resistant, I had to downsize the container and swag contents. Please donate or trade up or as evenly as possible to keep this cache filled with goodies for the youngsters. If however a youngster finds themselves without trade, please feel free to take something as a gift. This is your cache designed for you to have fun. (Please, please, do NOT put money in the cache! Thank you)

Being that I have designed this for teams with children, safety is my number one concern regarding this cache, so please advise if you ever find signs that this may be not as safe as my own experiences hold me to believe. Also please advise if you notice any reflectors missing. This being an urban night cache, it has a tendency to be muggled now and then, so please log or contact CO with all DNF's and rehide with decent cover, but allowing for the next night find. Thanks. .

Have fun and keep reading to your children!
