This cache is located in the Hal Scott Preserve in an area not visited by many. I have hiked this area quite a few times, finding something different with each visit. I certainly hope that you spend a little time enjoying the area. This preserve should be hunter free, but as always, stay alert!
The actually location of the cache should be dry, but depending on the season it could be wet. The day I put it out the river was a little high, but the cache area was dry. I put it just a little ways from where the old yellow trail crosses the river. If you look hard enough you will see one of the old arrows they used for blazes in those days. As I said, you can get to GZ in a number of ways, but finding the old yellow trail is a nice way! You can enter near the main campground on the canal and walk right along the river. I found a way with no bushwhacking. The container is a small tube which just contains a log (BYOP). I finally had to use the metal tube because critters took the plastic ones away (even when tethered). Again, how you get to the cache is entirely up to you. Note: no bikes for me, all walking! Please make sure you close the container tightly - you don't want to be one of those caches they are all talking about ;-}
The parking area is off Dallas Boulevard, there is plenty of that. - parking coords = N28 29.169 W81 05.823
I have picked up some trash while exploring the area, please consider being a CITO cacher. Be a good cacher, leave nothing but footprints and take nothing but photos!
