Tribute to Autanatepuy!!!
The Mount Autana Tepuy, in the State of Amazonas in southern Venezuela, was declared National Park in 1978. It is Located on the extreme north of the Venezuelan Amazon, east of the Orinoco River, between the Cuao and Autana Rivers on a north south direction. This sector is on the west of The Guayana Shield and within the Sipapo Reservations, territory occupied by the Piaroa Indians.
Mount Autana is considered sacred Tepuy by the Piaroa (in Piaroa dialect Autana means “ Sacred Mountain”) and in their mythology it represents the “Tree of Life” which born all the fruit that nourished all men and animals. Mount Autana consists of a sandstone strata originating in the Pre-Cambrian era. An unexpected characteristic of this tepuy is that inside there is a cave, 400 meters long and 40 meters wide, consisting entirely of quarts.
The pictures of the cave shown herein above clearly show the reason why this Tepuy is considered sacred and also why it represents the “Tree of Life” for the Piaroa Indians. Hence, this is precisely why I decided to dedicate this Tribute to this amazing little Geocacher, Autanatepuy! His personally is precious, but a lot more precious is the relationship he has with his father Auyantepuy, and as “Tree Huggers” they both are, the representation of the Autana as the “Tree of Life” is not only perfect, but it is also a story worthy to be shared and told… So here is to you my friends!
There is room for swag and trackables. Enjoy and have fun!!!
Congatulations Soflfamily, Messingaround, and Ikolor on the FTF!!! And Congratulations to Autanatepuy and Auyantepuy on the STF!!!
