A cache overlooking a soon to be developed 'gem' of land in Faiview. The site has changed over the years from a farm known as the Keeler's farm part of which had one of the oldest houses ( John Kuntz built it around 1760 ) on it , to Halifax West High School and now soon to be developed into multi-use complex.
1894 the Fairview Cemetery Company had a meeting and decided to make their forty-five acres, with its "fair view' of Bedford Basin, into a beautiful park, and so the district came to be known as Fairview.Fairview is the district lying in the northwest end of Halifax, on the south-west side of Bedford Basin, about three miles from the business section of Halifax. It includes the area from School Avenue to Main Avenue, down to the Fairview Cemetery and Fairview Cove, then along the shore of Bedford Basin to Rockingham. "( The Little Dutch Village...Devonna & Don Edwards 2003) The area is steeped in history with land grants given out in the mid 1700's.
