How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

Geo-Caching is best described as a high/tech scavenger hunt. To participate all you need is a love of the outdoors, a spirit of adventure, a Curiosity, a hand held GPS and a username from Geocaching.com. When Geocaching we search for "Caches" or containers hidden by other Geocachers. You then log on to Geocaching.com and post a note about your "find".

Caches may be as small as a small thimble or as large as a foot locker. They may be hidden in a public parking lot,  miles down a trail in the woods, or anywhere in between.

Geocaching will or can take you to very unique historic places across the state of Mississippi and around the world.

During this event you will hear from several veteran Geocachers from the area. They will show you what works well and what doesn't. Most of us as new cachers learned the hard way at first,  but then started listening to the Veteran Cachers.

The session will start at 9:30 with Coffee and donuts. It will be held in the Fellowship Hall of Brandon Presbyterian Church. We will then have several sessions ending at noon. We will break for lunch and then head out in small groups to find several of the old caches in the Brandon area and maybe there will be a few new ones placed. This will be a hands on session so be sure to bring your GPS.

Please log if you plan to attend and/or you would be willing to help with the program.
