The train is not accessible any more but can be seen trough the steel gate.
The locomotive was used in Port Nolloth many years ago.
Back in the day transport by train was the most common and fastest way to travel.
By boat was an option but it could not go inland.
Ox wagon was slow and the animals needed feed and water holes. This locomotive was used in the town to transport goods between the docks and main distribution points.
The trains belonged to the OCC, (Okiep Copper Co). Clara, a steam driven locomotive that ran between Okiep and the Port, is now located at the Nababeep museum. The narrow gauge tracks was removed in 1940.
At this area you can see the harbor and the diamond vessels on anchor.
Many sea birds come closer when fed.
Sometimes a person can see them loading the supply ships. They are the lifeline for the Namibian Mining vessels; witch is mining off the coast form Oranjemund.
