The hide location is on a mountain side that overlooks the Assagaaibos Nature Reserve. When viewing the hide location (to SW) from the base of the valley at the right time of the day, there seems to be a cave in the mountain side. This may be a cave or some odd shadow that deserves closer inspection. The interesting fynbos and sedimentary rocks complimented by a wonderful view makes for a great hike! (Not for the faint hearted!)
The Cache is hidden at the location which either fits the description of a cave or odd shadow. Which one will be determined once you reach it. The cache is a small plastic container which may hold small objects. It is hidden at the listed coordinates. When trying to reach the the cache consider the following: 1) Entrance to the Assagaaibos Nature reserve : If you want to picnic at Assegaaibosch Nature Reserve, you are no longer required to book. Entry is allocated on a strictly first come first served basis. Limitations of 60 people per day will still be enforced. A dam, almost a third of the way up the valley, offers lovely bank-side picnic spots. Parking, braai area and toilet facilities are provided. There is an entrance fee in the region of R30 for adults and R15 for children between 6 and 16 years old – this can change. Open Monday to Sunday from 07:30-16:00. Tel: (021) 483 0190 2) Chosen Path : The cache is not located along a hiking trail and therefor requires some "bundu-bashing" through the bush. However, if you scout the area properly you should be able to find a route that does not demand too much physically. (Binoculars advised) 3) If you have sensitive legs it is advisable to wear long pants. 4) Baboon and mongoose droppings are often encountered in the area so try and identify which animal may have passed through. (The hide location is a beautiful example of a natural shelter so respect your environment!!!). Tracks may also be found in the softer soil... 5) Enjoy...
