PA59 near Wight Cemetery Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

pscwmoms: This is a wonderful location for a cache if you can get them to visit the cemetery. This cemetery has revolutionary soldiers buried there!!!! It's at the river and the old head stone some are beautiful. I can only hope geocaching keeps there old caches like they have. History of the old cache location is great. Consider placing a cache here you need a corp of Engineers, Lake Wappapello office. It's not hard, if you have one they maybe to add your existing permit.

You have been a good cache, on the ground you do flood in a tree worked better. I hope you get a new owner.

Geocache Description:

P-N-G off Highway US 67 North bound side.
No cut through to the South bound side.
Gravel road not marked very well.  Just before the concrete guardrail for the bridge going over the St Francis river. We did not find it the first time past and had to turn around which will take you miles out of the way.

We had some time the day we placed this cache as our son was taking a test.  So off we go to see what we could find by the St Francis river.  It was too cold for fishing but not too cold to check out the location for future angling adventures.  Placed three caches this day but had to do the required paperwork for the Wappapello Corps of Engineers.  You have to call the Corps for the forms. A special shout out to Satchmo44 for guiding me to the right path. I thank her for the information and the "Just how do you do this?".

As we drove past the first time I was looking down towards the river and said I see a head stone.  There's a cemetery down there by the river.  We were past the only possible turn.  We went onward and looked at old Greenville or at least what was open this time of year (not much).  The ramp and fish area were open, nice area with a dock and parking just for fishing we will be back.

On the way back we stopped at the grave stone we spied. Around and down and back few miles, we were there.  We were so surprised to find... A cemetery with Revolutionary Soldiers graves.  WOW too cool! Looked it up on Google and the cemetery show up, so we were able to get the name, Wight Cemetery. Then we went to findagrave.com to learn more about the number of graves and about the people and soldiers buried there.  It was a great afternoon, we hope you enjoy this stop in the road possessing some history.

Co - FTF to woodstock 1 and Grannie3 Thanks for finding my caches.
