"Be a clown, be a clown, all the world loves a clown."
~ Cole Porter ~
"Dare to wear the foolish clown face."
~ Frank Sinatra ~
Nearly seven years ago (by the time this event comes around) I hosted my first event, one of Podcacher's first ever flash mob events. Now their tenth is coming up and it seems appropriate to join in. I briefly thought about returning to the scene of last spring's fiasco (I'll save that for another time), but decided that the location of my first event is the best bet for this one.
Let's celebrate clowns!!
So, let's do celebrate clowns with this flash mob. Bring a clown accessory to wear -- big shoes, a wig, a flower that squirts water, a horn . . . the possibilities are nearly endless. However, big and beautiful red clown noses will be supplied to participants, (while they last) yours to keep.
About this event:
Who? Geocachers & their families, friends, groupies &/or assorted hanger-ons
What? A flash mob cache event
Where? The above coordinates
When? 10:00am - 10:15am, Saturday, May 4, 2013
Why? Why not?
Official Schedule:
9:45 - 9:59: Mill about and mosey. Be nonchalant and casual. Look like a muggle. Don't look like a gathering waiting to happen. Mosey as realistically as you can. This is part of the fun. We will seem to appear out of no-where.
10:00a: Host and VIPs will walk to ground zero with a bucket and other goodies. This is the signal that the event has begun! Make sure to pickup your loot bag from one of the VIPs. The loot bag will have almost everything you’ll need: a nametag, a logbook sticker (please do not remove the backing!), a candy "meal", and other goodies. Fill out nametags and stick 'em on. Fill out your logging sticker and drop it in the supplied ammo box. (Bring something to write with!) Make sure your caching name appears on any logbook sticker. If there are non-cachers in your party, make sure their numbers are accounted for on a logging sticker. Sorry, pooches and other similar hanger-ons don't count!
10:00a-10:08a:
Mingle. Share stories. Brag. Find the bucket to trade travel bugs. Take pictures. Sign and deposit your logbook stickers. Unwrap and don your nose. CITO the local area! Enjoy your sweet meal!
10:08a-10:11a:
Mingle some more . . . no raffle this time as everybody got something in their goodie bag. If you're not ready for the official photo -- get ready!!
10:11a-10:14a: Go over to the photo area and assemble FAST. Now is the time to make sure you've got your clown accoutrements where they will do the most good. Listen for directions.
10:14a:
FluteFace will call the one minute warning: "It is now 10:14!" Prep to leave, but don't "look" like you are prepping. Now is the time to perform a last CITO of the area. You might want to "secretly" organize where you will re-form after dispersal.
10:15a EXACTLY: Wait for it . . . then LEAVE the area, right at 10:15a, in a disorderly manner and in different directions. Afterwards, meet elsewhere if desired. The swag and TBs will be packed up; the log sheet ammo box will be packed up and sealed. We will leave the area to go . . . elsewhere.
Other Useful Information:
- Carpooling is encouraged. It might not hurt to come early to find parking. Parking can be difficult to find. If you can't find parking you might miss the event!
- This event is only 15 minutes long! You MUST be present and sign a provided logbook sticker DURING this time to claim the event.
- This event has been organized and facilitated by volunteers. There are not enough words to express my thanks and gratitude to them. If you are interested in volunteering, there is still time.
- Although participants are welcome to get together for eating, socializing, caching or whatever before or after the event, the event will officially be over at 10:15a.
We will have succeeded if there are muggles nearby who wonder,
"What did I just see? What just happened?"
