Coastal Access Point Series #2: Sylvia Drive Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Twohig260: Came out today with the elder geomunchkin and found that the structure that hid the cache has fallen victim to the tides. We looked around for a bit in hopes of finding a new spot, but we didn't see anything that would be out of the way, above the tide, and unobtrusive to the neighbors. Unfortunately must archive.

Geocache Description:

The second in a series of caches intended to raise awareness of the many public access points to Rhode Island's shoreline.  The RI Coastal Resources Management Council (CRMC) has established close to 350 coastal access points throughout the state.  Many seem to be neglected, perhaps becuase of a lack of awareness to their existence.

CRMC access point J9 is located at the very end of Sylvia Drive.  There is CRMC signage at the ROW, but the signpost has fallen and is currently lying on the ground.  A dirt trail between two homes leads you to a sandy stretch of beach that seems to be a favorite hangout for Canadian geese and brants.  GZ features nice views of Goddard Park, Greenwich Cove, Warwick Neck, and Prudence Island.

The cache is a well camoed micro.  It is not located in or near the retaining wall, and there is absolutely no need to venture onto private property. Due to the ROW being between two private homes, please do not access this cache at night.  Please be sure to replace the camo carefully and completely once you have made the find.

Despite "No Parking" signs being absent, the neighbors have told me that parking isn't allowed on Sylvia Drive.  I was directed to park on the shoulder of Hornet Road (see included waypoint).  In order to avoid any unnecessary conflicts, please use the specified parking area.  You could also access this cache by walking along the beach from my first cache in this series (Nausauket Road), but you would have to cross a tidal creek.

High fives to RhodySlim for ftf!
