Geocache Description:

Lichen trees

Lichens are organisms resulting from symbiosis between at least one fungus, representing 90% of the total, and microscopic cells with chlorophyll.

Here it is lichen growing on pruneliers also called black bushes. It is called Prunelier Lichen.

The lichen is an indicator of pollution. His presence in our campaigns shows a relatively good air. So breathe deeply.

Contrary to popular belief, the lichens are not parasites in any of the trees, they settled only more readily on older trees, "the old bark and very mobile."
