The young authors were
between the ages of 4 and 11 years old when they wrote these
stories in February 2002. We hope that you will enjoy reading
them! Each of the stories and accompanying illustrations
appear in a hardback book published for the families of
Springhurst.
As part of this project, the older students (Seth!'s students)
prepared this geocache. We initially invited our friends at
Lake Forest Park Montessori to
find it as part of a geocache-exchange program. They were
rewarded with a hardback copy of our story book. Now the
geocache is there for everyone.
About The Geocache This is a multi-cache in a very nice
park. You'll want to park at N 47° 41.729' W 122° 12.649'. The
reception here should be good. We think that this geocache will be
pretty easy, so we aren't giving much in the way of an encrypted
hint. It's just a final tip for the end. You won't have to
bushwhack or trample any wildlife. Have fun!
At The First Waypoint Proceed to the posted coordinates.
Here you are looking for information to complete the next set of
coordinates. Change the following information into numbers:
N 47° 41.Skunk Cabbage>Bulrush>Bur-reed = 47° 41.__ __ __'
W 122° Soft Rush>'No Name Plant'>Spike Rush = 122° ___.__ __ __'
Once you have found the numbers,
proceed to this second set of coordinates.
At The Second Waypoint Here
you are looking for a sign. Count off the letters on the sign.
Replace each letter below with the corresponding number. Use the
second appearance of the letter "I", not the first.
N 47° 41.ISS = 47° 41.__ __ __
W 122° 12.ISG = 122° 12.__ __ __
At The Third Waypoint Here you
are looking for the birthdate of the oldest (first born) person
mentioned. The date will be in the form A/B/CD. Use those numbers
to compute three more numbers, then complete the
coordinates:
B-1=X
D+4=Y
C+C=Z
47° 41.XYC = 47° 41.__ __ __
122° 12.ADZ = 122° 12.__ __ __
Great! You now have the coordinates
for the final geocache. Go there now!
At The Geocache The
geocache was a .30 cal ammo can. Now it is a little decon
container. The geocache contains the usual kind of loot, except
small. Please sign the logbook and take an item/leave an item if
you wish. We also encourage you to read our
stories on our web site and track the journeys of our Cache of
Stories Travel
Bug. This page was also supposed to include this cool
java
applet.
