Geocache Description:

This 4 stage multicache may acquaint you with some well known and some not so well known folk tales .  All stages are within the boundaries of one of Durham's parks, West Point on the Eno. However, the stages are in what is maybe a lesser known part of the park. You will hike between 2.5 to 3.0 mi, or maybe a little more depending on where you park and how much bushwhacking you like to do. No stage is more than 275' from a not necessarily marked trail.

At the first stage, you will find a printed copy of a lesser known folk tale, "The Beech-Tree." Read the story if you like but kindly leave the story in the cache for the next finder. Savvy cachers can get within 150' of this stage before bushwhacking. There is a physical puzzle at Stage 1 that you must solve to obtain the coordinates for Stage 2. There is also a hint to help you find Stage 2, if you know your folk tales. Please carefully put all puzzle parts back in the cache when you are done.

The second stage is named after a well known Norwegian folk tale, De tre bukkene Bruse. Look under the lid of Stage 2 to find a helpful hint for what you will need to do at Stage 3 in order to find the Final Stage. A 1.5 v AA battery may come in handy here, if not indispensable. Please close container well when done.

The third stage is named after a well known folk tale about three siblings Sus scrofa domestica. The coordinates you find there won't be useful to you without a hint that you will find at Stage 2. And you will have to solve an easy field puzzle at Stage 3 with the hint from Stage 2 in order to find the final stage.

The final stage is named Stone Soup after what is perhaps a lesser known folk tale that can be found in several countries. There is a printed copy of the story in the final stage container. Please leave the story in the cache for the next finder.

Lots of nice swag in the final. If trading, please trade even or up to keep the fun going. If in doubt, trade up!

There is a geocoin, My Traveling 2 Cents, for the FTF.

Big congratulations to randim for the FTF; and, for hanging in there after alerting me to a problem with Stage 2 so I could quickly remedy it.
