Geocache Description:

The Secret Beach

The small beach town of Bal Harbour, Florida holds a secret that even locals aren't too aware of: Bal Harbour Beach is one of the least populated and most pristine beaches in all of South Florida. The beach stretches approximately one mile from Haulover Inlet to Surfside Beach. You will find ample parking (small parking fee), a beautiful fishing pier with a beacon light at the end, a paved, sandy jogging path that separates the 30 story condos from the sandy, white beach and the best feature....virutally NO other people around except for the occassional jogger or maintainance worker.

1. To begin your hike to the cache, give yourself an hour or more to spare. The beach is technically closed after sundown but the jogging path, which also leads to the cache, is not. Start at Waypoint 1 and park underneath the Haulover Inlet Bridge. A small parking fee is (unfortunately) required...$2.00 or so...which you pay for at the parking machine. Make sure to display your parking pass on your dashboard, if you arrived by car. Vehicles parked in the parking lot are towed after 10pm. Bicycles are permitted on the beach and have their own semi-paved path as well.

2. From the parking lot, make your way over to the seawall, then head east. There is a paved walkway leading out to the fishing pier/beach. You will come to Waypoint 2 approximately 450 feet east from Waypoint 1.

3. At Waypoint 2 you have a choice to make. Hike the beach or hike/bike the shady jogging/bicycle path? Both lead to the cache approximately 0.6 mile south of where you are.

4. Waypoint 3 is about the halfway mark. Look for the "Three Palms" and "Swim at your own risk" sign. This is also a gorgeous overlook of the Atlantic Ocean.

5. If you decide to take the jogging path, look for the "0.6 Mile" sign. At this sign, turn towards the ocean and you will see a cluster of small trees. Look in the base of the trees to find the cache.
It shouldn't be too difficult of a find so please let me know if it has been muggled. Bring your own pen.

I had a lot of fun scouting out this location and I hope you have just as much fun as I did in locating this cache!!
