Geocache Description:

It's that time of year again where legs are pulled and paper fish are placed on unsuspecting backs. What better "holiday" is there than April Fool's Day? And as promised last year, the stakes are higher...

Last year, a wager was made on who could place the better April Fool's cache. I lost that wager at the April Fool event. It was promised there that we'd be doing it again, double or nothing. Well folks, it turns out that it's nothing as the defending champ was afraid of being embarrassed and withdrew from the wager. But promises are promises and the event is still going on as planned. Especially since such a big deal was made about how I didn't host the original event. As this is my hosting debut, it is certain that I'll be making a fool of myself. And to prove this, the event will not be held on April Fool's Day. Here's the rundown:

Where: Smokey Bones on Bald Hill Rd, Warwick
When: Sunday, April 7th from 5pm-7pm
What: Food and drink (from the menu), mingling, and even a contest
Who: Fools and non-fools alike

Now this is where things get interesting... Since this year's wager is no longer existent, I've decided to kick things up a notch to make things fun again. I've spent a great deal of time on my entry, so I don't want it to go to waste. But what fun is it when there's not another cache to compare it to? So I'm opening it up to anyone this year. After all, there were a few fun caches last year that fit the bill. I'm sure that there are at least a few of you who may have plans for a devious hide this April. If you are one of those people and you'd like to make a friendly wager (meaning only your pride is at stake), you'll want to pay attention.

Friendly Wager Rules
- Only one geocache per account may be entered.
- The entry must be placed in the state of RI.
- The geocache must meet all Groundspeak guidelines and should be submitted for review no later than Wednesday, March 27 (to allow proper time for our reviewer to do his job) and must be published on Monday, April 1st.
- The geocache name, GC code, and the individual hiding it (and nothing more) must be submitted to the event host (Hobo.) prior to publishing.

The winner will be determined as voted on by the event attendees. So even if you don't plan on hiding one, you still get to participate as a judge in this contest! On the big day, an announcement will be made, listing the entries for all to reference. Everyone will then have the entire week to find any or all of the caches prior to attending the event. Because of this, hiders will want to keep in mind that any element of surprise will be lost as the judges will already know that the entry is an April Fool's cache. So if that's a problem, you probably shouldn't participate. Finally, let it be known that there is no pressure to take up this wager or to place a cache. If nobody makes a submission, I'll simply make even a greater fool of myself (which is not a difficult feat). In that case, I have a contingency plan to keep things somewhat interesting. But in the end, this is really just a reason to get out of the house and have a good time with fellow cachers, all while getting yet another smiley.
