Geocache Description:

Personally, I’m allergic to Puzzle Caches and can only do the ones I can figure out right away. So, in part to remedy the balance, CapeDoc and I have devised a Puzzle Cache that IS AT THE LISTED COORDINATES. In other words, you can go there right now….the puzzle, you’ll find, IS the cache. You need to figure out what to do where and how in order to get your hands on the logbook. There might well be a clue in the information below:

Many will know about GC22C1Z, Newlands Spring hidden by CapeGeckos (my very first find!). This cache celebrates the source of the spring which supplied the earliest brewing industry in South Africa with the crystal clear water used to make the beer which (some argue) was the launching pad for commercial industry in the country! This spring is still used by the South African Breweries (SABMiller) to make beer in Cape Town. The overflow from this spring is freely available for the public to collect as it flows (rather unceremoniously) through a white plastic pipe on its way to the nearby stream. The aptly-named ‘Springs Way’ becomes massively congested at times as people with all kinds of containers arrive to claim their share. So the breweries decided to make an alternative, bulk collection point available… and hence the need for a new cache! The coordinates for this hide take you to a spot just off Letterstedt Road (another historical Newlands brewing name), where you will find an attractive fountain permanently spilling the same spring water for convenient collection (no need to break your back as you collect your water). It is well worth bringing along a container to collect some water for yourself while you’re here.
This is a HIGH MUGGLE area; please exercise extreme caution while you scratch your head and ponder the puzzle.
Congratulations to ogjm for a speedy FTF!!
