Geocache Description:

The Park

The Roe Valley Country Park is located just a mile or so outside the market town of Limavady. The Park offers great walks along the banks of the River Roe and through some mature mixed woodland. Some paths are steep, some have steps but there is plenty of benches dotted around the park to pause at and take in your surroundings.

The Park is the habitat of foxes, badgers and otters and over sixty species of birds have been seen in the park.

The Series

I have broke up the series into 3 smaller walks, but its up to you how you go about it. All 3 are linked and can be done in any combination or all together.

Walk 1 North of Centre. Parking at either P1, P2 or P3. A circular route which takes in 4 caches of this series and 3 from a previous series.

Walk 2 Green Lane to Carrick Mills. Parking at either P3 or P4. This is a circular route which takes in 5 caches of this series and 2 from a previous series.

Walk 3 South of Carrick Mills. Parking at either P4 or P5. A circular route which takes in 4 caches of this series and 1 from a previous series.

The Cache

This cache is part of Walk 3. A 3.0km walk with an ascent/descent of 45m. Walk 3 also has a 200 meters or so that is outside the Country Park boundary, and therefore the path is rocky and not maintained. Not suitable for buggies or prams.

The bridge here is, I think, quite unusual. An Inverted Bowstring Bridge, with all the structure and strength underneath. Can’t think of too many more like this.

This cache located deep in a small gorge under lots of tree cover, so please read the hint carefully. At the top of the steps is an old church, (and a multi from a previous series) follow the wall on round to the left and you will come to a gap/step in the wall which will then lead you down a steepish rocky path past the weir and back onto the flat ground again.

Cache is a 100ml pre inflated bottle within a natural secondary container, please replace and put back exactly as you find it.
