Geocache Description:

One of Ohio’s most significant Adena Indian mounds. The cache is not on the mound. Micro bison tube. BYOP. There are no pulloffs near the cache, but the road is not a well-traveled one. PLEASE do NOT drive down private lane near mound.

To find the mound: from the coordinates look south and slightly to the west and you'll see a lone tree-covered mound in the middle of flat farmland. If you never noticed it before, it suddenly becomes conspicuous! Austin-Brown Mound is one of the largest and most important Adena mounds known to exist in Ohio because...

...in spite natural erosion, 200 yrs of farming, and an 1897 excavation, it has been damaged less than almost every other large Adena mound and is on the National Register of Historic Places. A lateral tunnel dug to the center of the mound yielded evidence of decayed logs on the floor, but no tomb nor isolated burials. Later excavations of other mounds showed off-center wooden tombs – are undiscovered human remains in the Austin-Brown Mound?
Congratulations FTF Mallard819 !!! Much geoluck to you :-)
