Geocache Description:

The Texas Spirit Quest

is a series of Caches placed by many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have ‘walked’ before us.

There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural communities across Texas. This series will introduce you to many of them. The cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries, tombstones and local lore.

THE CACHE IS *NOT* AT THE CEMETERY. In fact, not even all that close now. The original placement evidently lasted about three minutes, as it seems a neighbor may not be a geocaching fan. The replacement was about 900 feet away--but unfortunately, it got destroyed in an accident, and was also unpleasantly close to a Murder Van. The NEXT replacement was about 50 feet from the second site--and evidently was plunked into the middle of a hobo camp. THIS one is the NEXT closest safe site I could find. But the cemetery itself is actually by 6207 Idlewood Cove.

This was a small cemetery for the Chote family, although some Currys and Pattersons are also buried here. You will note that no grave markers of any kind remain, so with the exception of the small sign out front, there is no indication that this is anything more than an overgrown vacant lot. All the same, there are as many as 19 graves here, with the earliest evidently dating back to 1882. For 15 of the graves, nothing other than the name has been recorded anywhere.

As always, any refinements to the listed coordinates as provided by cache-seekers are welcomed.
