Geocache Description:

This kid friendly geocache puzzle is located at one of the three pond ecosystems that James Dunsmuir established in 1914. The ponds were stocked with fish for backyard fishing. Fish still travel between Esquimalt Lagoon and the ponds for spawning and so 120m of concrete fish ladders have been restored to encourage the trout to continue to spawn here.  Use the fish ladder, the two nearby interpretive signs and the tree identification sign to solve this very easy puzzle.

Historic Fish Ladder

Take the posted coordinates and do some easy math!

To determine the Latitude:
Count the number of steps in the ladder.
Then...
Locate the Latin name (not species) of the nearby tree. Double the number of letters in the name (not species) and add to the number of steps in the ladder. ADD this answer to the posted latitude.

To determine the Longitude:
Determine the number of species of fish that James Dunsmuir stocked the ponds with.
SUBTRACT your answer from the posted Longitude.

Your now have the location of the cache container which is hidden nearby. Go Get it!
