Greatland Reviewer: Hello:

This cache page has been archived due to the lack of a timely response to one or more prior Reviewer Note(s) about issue(s) with the cache and/or because the Cache Owner has not been online for several months. If the owner would like to have the cache unarchived, please contact me through my profile as soon as possible before another cache gets placed nearby.

Please note that unarchiving a cache page requires it to go through the same review process as a newly proposed cache, using the cache placement guidelines currently in effect.

Remains of one of the Bronze Age villages in Malta are found on the heights of Dingli Cliffs. This is a very interesting place and upon visiting it one immediately notices its importance, how wisely it was chosen and understands the way it was built to defend the village. Behind the walls protecting the village the Bronze Age people used to dig a number of wells these were used either as water reservoirs or even as silos, where food could be stored.

The actual protected area can be easily referred to as the citadel of the community, as the defended area was never extensive. This shows that the actual people lived outside the walls, and they had their own farms scattered around the immediate area. The defended part would only be used in case of an attack by one of the marauding tribes that were becoming quite common in the Mediterranean. The Gebel Ciantar promontory is impressive, as it provides the defenders with an easily small defensible part of the promontory as the sides. At the same time there are a number of other historical places that one can visit while in the area.
