Geocache Description:

This area has recently had all the ground leaf litter and pine needles burnt for fire control purposes.  In a year I'm sure it will look beautiful again.  This cache would have easily survived the burn.

This is a cache on a section of the MTS. MTS is The Mountains-to-Sea Trail, linking Clingman's Dome in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park to Jockey's Ridge State Park on the Outer Banks. Today, over 450 miles of the 1,000 mile route are open for use. These caches are on an almost 3 mile section around Falls Lake, with parking on both ends of this trail section (Possum Track and Bayleaf). It is a natural trail through the woods, marked with white blaze dots on trees.
