Geocache Description:

Black Hills Geobash VI
2013

It's time once again for another Black Hills Geobash! This year it will be bigger and better than ever, held in the Northern Black Hills near Spearfish, SD.

The event location will be at Chris' Camp, 2 miles east of Spearfish on Christenson Drive. This will be 3 day event, beginning Friday August 16 and concluding Sunday morning August 18. There will be a Chili/Soup Cookoff event Friday.

Within a 20 mile radius of the event, there are at least 250 geocaches of all types. Nearby places to visit include Spearfish Canyon, Deadwood, Belle Fourche and Devil's Tower. There are miles of hiking trails and secluded spots deep in the Black Hills to just "get away from it all". Come prepared to have an exciting weekend for either the entire family or those solo geocachers!

Here's the information for Chris' Camp.  The campground has full internet WIFI, including at the pavilion. We have reserved the spots that are on both sides of the pavilion / picnic shelter, on the north side of the campground.  This includes the tents, RV's, and all 12 of the cabins. Here is a link to the campground map if you need it. The reservation numbers are 1-800-350-2239, or 605-642-2239. Just let them know you are with the Black Hills Geobash and they will accommodate you accordingly.  We would highly recommend reserving your spot early, especially the cabins. You are responsible for your own reservations and camping fees.

Camping is not required.  If you choose not to camp, there are nearby motels, or if you live in the area you may just attend the activities.

For the BBQ, we will be supplying the meats (hot dogs, and burgers), buns, and basic condiments.  If you could bring sides, chips, desserts, and whatever else to round it all off it would be appreciated.

Please, log a "WILL ATTEND" if you plan on attending, and indicate how many adults and children are in your party, along with what you plan on bringing for a side. It is important we have accurate information so we can plan accordingly for the BBQ Saturday night. If you plan on attending the Chili/Soup Cookoff, you will need to log a "will attend" there as well.  Please put this on your watch list, and check back for any updates and changes that could occur between now and the event.

NOTE: Local cachers who wish to help with either event assistance, prize donations or new cache placement please contact Jo-Daz or Dakotahillbillies.
