Near a very small noisy pond. In the Spring this a very noisy place.
This is along the Cane Ridge road.
I was finished for the day and was looking for a place to hide the small lock n lock on my way back to US highway 67.
I heard this spot before I saw it. It was a great warm spring day so I had the windows down. The noise came to me so I stopped and found a nice spot.
Along Cane Ridge road you will see areas we have burned to keep the fuels down. We also burn to keep the areas open for wildlife. There is one area where the pine are dead. This area was burned many years ago. The fire was too hot and yes it killed the trees. As a result, we have a nice opening in the woods which is also a good and natural thing. In one area you can see where we had the forest thinned. More than half the hardwood trees have been cut out. This will give the remaining trees room to grow. They will get bigger, we try to leave the better long lived tree. Enjoy the ride in your National Forest.
