My Nana's Mother, Elsie Franklin (nee Matheson) was born in 1899 and died on her birthday in 1927 aged just 28, when Nana was just 3.
Elsie is buried in a shared plot with her Mother-in-law and Father-in-law in Block 48 (Waypoint one).
Elsie's Mother-in-law (Nana's grandmother), Anna "Annie" Mary Franklin (nee Thessman) was born in 1876 in Marton and died in 1945 in Palmerston North.
Elsie's Father-in-law (Nana's grandfather), Sidney Franklin was born in 1871 and died in 1950. His occupation was listed as a retort operator at the Palmerston North Gas Works.
After Nana's Mother died, her Father Eric Roger Walter Franklin (1901 - 1975) remarried and had more children. One of these was Eric William Franklin, Nana's half-brother. Unfortunately Eric (Jr) died of whooping cough in 1933 while he was still very young.
He is buried in Block 034 (Waypoint two) at the 'foot' of Reta May Boult's grave, a member of his Mother's family (Nana's step-family).
