Geocache Description:

This is a challenge cache that requires you to find ten caches of different types (unique icons).

The ten-year anniversary of the beginning of geocaching has come and gone, but for Team Donutdog, geocaching started ten years ago this month.  We joined the site on March 6, 2003 and we went out and actually found our first cache on Saturday March 15, 2003.  It was in a small neighborhood park in Ohio, where we were living at the time.  I still remember that feeling of discovering hidden treasure – so exciting! We've been finding hidden treasures ever since.

What's all this got to do with this challenge? Well, nothing. Nothing at all. You can't make a challenge out of caching for ten years. Groundspeak doesn't consider it a "geocaching accomplishment." You know what *is* a challenge? Finding caches that have ten unique icons. Look at your "caches found" on your profile page, or the stats table on your stats page, to see where you stand. Benchmarks do NOT count, but all other unique cache icons do. Qualifying caches must be ones that you have found, not ones you placed. Finds from any date count.

The find itself will require a hike partway up Atalaya Mountain in Santa Fe - about 1.5 miles from the parking area (described in Atalaya Mountain cache).  You may sign the log even if you do not qualify yet, but you'll need to meet the qualifications to log it as a find. There is a Team Donutdog geocoin in the cache for the first to get there - even if you are not able to log an actual find yet, the coin is yours.  It is not trackable and does not have to be moved.  The coins were minted in 2005 and say "Geocaching has gone to the dogs since March 2003."

If you feel like it, tell us in your log about your first geocaching experience, or what got you hooked on it, how you celebrated/will celebrate your decade cache-iversary, or some other fond geocaching memory. Happy caching!

Congrats to ZenGuru and budabeli for the co-FTF!
