Geocache Description:

Due too many problems in 2012 with cachers putting their own replacement caches in when not finding the original, we have to say… Please do not replace any of our caches on the island. If you have not found the original cache please log as a DNF so we have a chance to check on them, WE will replace as necessary.

Keep in mind when caching on Belle Isle, you are in Detroit and crime can be high. Lock your valuables and do not hunt caches if muggles are in sight. The best time to enjoy and safely cache is the colder months.

No story just some fun ahead…
Starting at the posted cords look for the twisted one (No not Rattrak!), once you have spotted the twisted one you now know the direction to head in. As you walk along do not let the trees get away from you. Soon enough you will pass by “The Heavy Roller”, just roll on by. If you have the trees nearby and you are looking forward you will see the ramped tree, yes it is more in it’s own field rather then being friendly to the other trees. Continue on until you arrive at the ramp tree only to find it was Mother Nature that created this ramp. Near the top of the ramp you will find “The Tool” you will have to find “The Tool” to find “The Cache”. Once you have the tool in hand, head off to the ESE, oh, like a bearing of 113 degrees. By heading in this direction you will once again see another of “The Heavy Roller”. Use “The Tool” wisely and it will let you know just were to look. Be sure to pay close attention to how the cache is placed to get it back just right for the next finder.

There is a stamp and ink pad, please leave them in the cache! Now go replace the "tool" as you found it.

The Recreation Passport will be phased in gradually beginning February 10, 2014. Vehicles will not need the Passport during the first year of state management until their next license plate registration renewal date. For example, if the vehicle license plate registration renewal date is in March 2014, then the Passport is not needed on that vehicle to enter Belle Isle until March. If the renewal date is in November 2014, than a Recreation Passport is not needed until November. Once a full year has cycled (February 2015), all vehicles entering the park must have a Recreation Passport.

The Recreation Passport applies only to vehicles, not individuals. Pedestrians, bicyclists and those using public transportation can enter the park for free and will not need the Passport. The DNR is working with the city of Detroit to re-establish a public bus route to the island.
Annual Recreation Passport is $11.00

All caches placed at Belle Isle State Park by the Belle Isle Cachers, or Rattrak, are here with consent of the support of the DNR supervision for the island.
