This is located near Castle Rock. It is a steep trail gaining 600 ft. in 3/4 mile. Trail head is off Hwy 18 just east of City of Big Bear Lake sign in Boulder Bay.
We are in Big Bear City visiting relatives. We introduced them to geocaching and Grandma is hooked. So we are placing this new cache for her. It is one of our favorite hikes and the view from the top of Castle Rock [N34*13.888 W116*57.707] is beautiful. The parking area [N34*14.268 W116*57.683] and road crossing are a bit treacherous so be careful. It is a somewhat strenuous 1 mile hike - mostly up, along a pretty creek with lots of boulders to climb. Have fun. Cache is a coffee can. Since we were on vacation and did not have access to the internet, we did not realize that there is another cache nearby until we got back to Colorado. So you can get two caches for not much extra effort.
