Geocache Description:

This cache is located next to the Woodinville Library in the recently added miniature park. Please, take a moment to explore all the wonderful things around you. If you have little ones, they'll enjoy this cache.

The name of the cache should call attention to a very special structure. Acoustic Mirrors. A precursor of radar, acoustic mirrors were built on the coasts of England between about 1916 and the 1930s. The ‘listening ears’ were intended to provide early warning of incoming enemy fighter planes about to attack coastal towns. With the development of faster aircraft the sound mirrors became less useful, as an aircraft would be within sight by the time it had been located, and radar finally rendered the mirrors obsolete. Still, they remain imperishable examples of primitive, yet monumental technology.
